Energy Cost Comparison

Background
Since 1949, Natural Gas of Milton has had the responsibility of providing a continuous supply of clean safe energy to customers in the communities of Milton, East Milton and Pace. This environment friendly gas is used for many residential, commercial and industrial applications, and provides a cost savings compared to all other forms of energy.

For the past Twenty-four (24) years, the Department of Energy (DOE) has reported that natural gas is the best energy buy, with electricity costing four (4) times more on an energy-equivalent basis. The prices are compared in Btu, a standard measure of energy value, to make comparisons.

Providing a safe and reliable supply of natural gas to the customer’s meter involves adhering to the rules and regulations of many Federal and State regulatory agencies. Monitoring the ever-changing regulations of these agencies allows the natural gas industry to be one of the safest industries in the United States by constant inspection, maintenance and documentation of our mains, services and appurtenant equipment.

With the installation of new mains and services each year, the natural gas system is comprised of 245 miles of mains of various sizes, and the number of services to our customers represents an additional 99 miles of gas lines. The entire distribution system is made up of steel, cast iron and polyethylene mains and services.
